Celebrating 50 Years with Local Non-Profit Donations in Honor of Our Founders
As you may already know, this year marks a major milestone for HEB Engineers—our 50th anniversary. In September, we celebrated with current and past employees, along with their families, recognizing the many individuals who have shaped our company’s history and success. A key highlight of the event was a special tribute to our founders, Ed Bergeron and Doug Burnell, whose leadership and vision have guided us since day one.

In honor of their invaluable contributions, both to HEB Engineers and the local community, we wanted to give back in a way that reflects the values they have instilled in us—integrity, service, and community involvement. As part of our ongoing 50th-anniversary celebrations, we proudly presented $5,000 donations to two local non-profit organizations, chosen by Ed and Doug.

Supporting Aviation Education: Ed Bergeron’s Choice
Ed’s chosen organization is one he has been deeply involved with since its beginning, the Eastern Slope Aviation Academy. The Academy, located in Fryeburg, ME, provides education and mentoring for the Mount Washington Valley and Western Maine regions. The Academy offers a STEM Aviation Program through the Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center at Kennett High School in North Conway, NH. This program opens doors for students and residents to explore career opportunities in aviation. They provide education, mentoring, and resources to students and residents interested in careers in aviation, ensuring that young people in our region have the tools and opportunities to explore aeronautical and aviation sciences.
Through their financing, volunteer support, and dedicated facilities, the Eastern Slope Aviation Academy is a gateway for the next generation of aviation professionals, and Ed’s contribution will further empower their mission to inspire and educate.

Enhancing Community Spaces: Doug Burnell’s Choice
Doug has always had a passion for ensuring community access to outdoor spaces. His chosen non-profit, Friends of Conway Public Library, is at the heart of an exciting local project—the Library Park Project. This initiative is focused on revitalizing the park adjacent to the Conway Library, transforming it into a vibrant community space for people of all ages.
The proposed redesign includes new features such as a covered pavilion, picnic area, paved walkways, a storybook walk, improved parking and traffic flow, and spaces where residents can enjoy quiet reading, coffee with friends, group meetings, or remote work. Doug’s donation will contribute to creating a welcoming and functional park that enriches our community’s quality of life.
A Legacy of Leadership and Generosity
As we celebrate this 50-year milestone, we are reminded that our success is rooted in the values and vision of Ed and Doug. Their commitment to service and their leadership continue to inspire us. These donations are a testament to their belief in giving back to the community that has supported us through the decades.
We are incredibly proud to contribute to these causes in their names, and we look forward to seeing how the Eastern Slope Aviation Academy and Friends of Conway Public Library continue to make a positive impact.
